No-exam life insurance

Who gets accelerated underwriting, the process, and what differs if you don't.

Several carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: applicants meeting age and amount criteria get decisions based on the application, Rx history, driving records and similar data—no exam needed. Some decisions arrive the same business day. Our quotes note whether each product requires an exam, might require one, or does not.

What it changes

No exam doesn't equal no underwriting. Carriers verify all your answers; policies issued with false information are contestable for two years. The carrier may still request tests or an exam based on their background checks, and you'll get to decide whether to proceed.

Who tends to qualify

Generally for applicants below age 60, seeking amounts within the carrier's accelerated window, with no significant health issues or tobacco in a year or longer. Some carriers will use recent doctor visits and bloodwork instead of ordering an exam.

Should an exam be needed, a paramedical examiner typically spends 20–30 minutes at your residence or workplace in Camarillo, free of charge. For healthy applicants, exam findings often lead to a better rate class, so the exam can actually be beneficial.
